The Wonder of a Photo

How can so much be held within the delicate boundaries of a piece of paper? Dancing with light and depth, color and emotion, this paper can come to life – coax our heart and mind to laugh again, to cry again, to play again, to kiss again, to dance again, to hold them close again, to love again, to feel, again, that moment held within those delicate bounds.

As I stare at the photo in front of me – one from our wedding day – I can feel that moment again. I can almost enter it again the longer I gaze at it.

The golden light of the setting sun filters through my closed eyelids, the cool evening breeze of that autumn day blows across the fields – I can hear it, I can feel it brush past my cheek. The delicate tulle of my dress dances at my feet and floats up into the air, catching the sunset inside of it. The air is crisp and smells of fall harvest. I take a breath in and and breathe out and feel him do so as well, our noses and foreheads resting against each other. My husband holds me, his hands clasped behind the small of my back and pulling me close to him.

I feel loved and beautiful. I feel happy. Oh, so happy! I feel content and glowing and giddy with all the wonder of our wedding day and the life to come with him – my love, my husband.

Here I sit years later, coaxed back into this beautiful moment by this delicate piece of paper, these 5×7 boundaries.

Though I often thrift most of my frames, which includes prying out old embroidered prints of kittens and florals out of them, HA!, I adore these albums and frames below!
