Halloween ‘Boo!’ Bags

Halloween – I love Halloween! Memories of picking what I would dress up as (most often a witch) and getting ready that All Hallow’s Eve, going with my mom and meeting our family friends with excitement and a feeling of something magical to come, bundling up and crunching leaves underfoot while we sought out those small little lights on each porch that beckoned us to come and TRICK or TREAT, knowing which houses gave sweet, sticky popcorn balls and which were too scary to go up to alone. I was mesmerized by this one specific house with glass windows all down its front that lit up on that dark night. As we went up the stairs and our moms waited on the sidewalk, it felt like I was walking up to a palace of glass… just MAGICAL!

On Halloween you get to be creative with costumes even into adulthood (I’m still going strong!), eat all the sugar you could ever want without hesitation and often times feel more a part of your neighborhood. That’s why I wanted to make these special ‘Boo’ Bags for the girls next door! They’ve been the sweetest little neighbors, making homemade gifts for Baby Analeigh and running over just to say ‘Hello!’ I got this idea originally with a kit I saw at Target, but wanted to make it more personal. Go ‘BOO!’ your neighbor, coworker or friend this week and share the HALLOWEEN MAGIC!

1. Start with a piece of paper, paper bag, and marker.
2. Draw your own cute little ghost and write “You’ve Been BOOED!” on it.
3. Cut your cute little ghost out.
4. Glue it on one side of your bag.
5. Draw a few simple bats, pumpkins or more little ghosts so you can write “Now It’s Your Turn To ‘BOO!’ Someone Too!” so they can join in the fun and ‘Boo!’ someone else!
6. Cut them out.
7. Glue them on and DONE!
Now, all you have to do is pick a few small gifts to put in your ‘Boo!’ Bag. I had a few little Halloween thrift store finds, like these JACK-O-LANTERN treat bags for a handwritten note.
I added some classic PEZ treats with GHOSTS, of course!
Get creative: add things to make a spooky Halloween drink – alcoholic or not, homemade cookies, or maybe a decoration for their home!
All ready for delivery…
BOO!

After delivering my ‘Boo!’ Bag to our neighbors, I was sitting outside and heard them come home. It was so fun to hear their surprise and happiness. Worth the few minutes it took to make!

Happy Halloween!
